In Archibald MacLeishs novel J.B., Macleish attempts to tackle the theodicy question by, more or less, mirroring the romance of Job from the bible. Another display of this apparent omniscient is later J.B. has his apocalypse that he cannot do anything but trust in Gods ways for taking everything from him, Mr. Zuss and Nickles are discussing the events, and nickels states to Mr. Zuss that he was right and Mr. Zuss replies of mark I was right.
